Building Confident Leaders

I had blocked a week to be in Chicago for a group session with a Client. We decided to move that work to the next week. I took the opportunity and blocked the original week and decided to use it to write and fly-fish.

This photo is of one of the weir dams on the South Holston River. I waited until they cut off, waded in and caught 7 very nice rainbows. I spent 2 days fishing this part of the river.

I also spent part of the week working on chapter five of my book. In September 2008, thanks to the urging of my friend Gordon, I went on a short retreat to work on what I wanted to write about and why I wanted to write about same. I found it.

So I began to work on the writing process. The next few months taught me the importance of seeing writing as a process - there is more to a writing project besides creating content. As a matter of fact, I did not begin to create content until the end of April 2009. I've been having a blast since then creating content.

Other than taking a week to write on the book and fly-fish; what do these two have in common? Actually, a lot. You see, my time in the rivers and streams of this Region has inspired the driving metaphor for my writing. I am looking forward to sharing more about this through the book.

I hope to have a full manuscript by the end of 2009. I will then begin the editing process and move toward publication.

Thanks to so many who are with me in the writing - whether they know it or not. You see, I learn so much from my Clients. Their stories are presenting themselves as I write - making it a rich experience for me ... again. I am enriched by hearing these stories the first time and I am blessed again as they return to me and enter the flow of content.
