"Whoever isolates himself seeks his own desire; he breaks out against all sound judgment." Proverbs 18:1 (ESV)
When we isolate ourselves from our support system of family/friends, we are really being selfish. If we are to become al that God wants us to be, we must trust a friend with our heart and take guidance from them at times.
No man (or woman) is an island! We were created for communion with our Creator as well as other created beings. We need the wisdom of those who've gone…

This time of year is special – for many reasons.
For me, it is a time of review, renewal and preparation. I look back in gratitude over the past year. I do my best to dedicate time to renew; spend time with my family and time to express myself in my writing. And I make time and space to think about the year to come. It is a time to narrow the focus and intensify commitment.
A wish for myself I also hope for you; that you allow your behavior in 2010 to be driven by your Desire.
What you desire…

After my two afternoon Coaching sessions at a regional company, I took a walk. Thank goodness there is still some color to enjoy.
I love Fall. It is my favorite time of year. Part of that favoritism is my birthday is November 1st. As I've grown older, the milestone birthdays have not bothered me too much. It is those in between that seem to get to me. Last Sunday…

I had blocked a week to be in Chicago for a group session with a Client. We decided to move that work to the next week. I took the opportunity and blocked the original week and decided to use it to write and fly-fish.
This photo is of one of the weir dams on the South Holston River. I waited until they cut off, waded in and caught 7 very nice rainbows.…

"Good Leadership is a channel of water controlled by God; He directs it to whatever ends He chooses." –Proverbs 21:1 (The Message)
Wow! Good Leadership is defined by the world in a “results-drven” or “money-driven” way most of the time. Even by some prominent Christians as “Influence” or “Power”. (which is partially true) This verse describes leadership that is “good” as God-Controlled Power/Influence, or “Power Submitted”. Not what we normally think of when looking at most leaders today…

I just wanted to post this quick and funny story that REALLY did happen to my wife and I the other night!
Last Sunday we visited a church gathering where, in the course of a conversation, we were challenged by a lady to do something we had already been talking about lately…to stop watching Television for a week. The reason for this is to see just how much time we waste worshipping the tube! So we took this challenge seriously and didn’t turn the TV on for the entire week. Not just any week, but…

This little dude was smart. Normally when I simply walked by this bush, he would disappear down the funnel in his web. But when I was mowing the lawn - and obviously stirring up food - he stayed poised for a filling vibration. So as I continued to cut the grass, I couldn't help but think ab…

It had been a few years since he had taken the personality survey. Recently he has been stuggling a bit. He took the profile survey once again and it came out the same.
He sent me the profile via email and stated that he supposed he should change.
I really didn't like hearing that. It disturbed me greatly. Here was my reply:
It's not that the profile should change - this represents who you are at the core and the innate strengths that this personality brings along. The change is really les…

I was passing through Harriman, Tennessee on my way to the Nashville area to spend time visiting with my cousin. He grew up in Harriman and I spent several summers with him in those beautiful mountains. As I drove thorough, it was not my mind reminiscing as much as it was my heart feeling. While I am far from the youngster who played in those hills and valleys, I’m still the person who so loved what that land had to offer.
I have since an early age been blessed with a love of nature. In all the…

Simply put, a story is a narrative with a beginning, middle, and an end. We all have stories and we tell them every day. And even though we may not be conscious of it, many times we tell a story for a purpose. It could be said that every story has a purpose and it is up to the teller to tell it in the right way at the right time for that purpose. A skilled storyteller tells a story in a way that engages the imagination of the listener; intentionally not filling the canvas of the listener’s mind…
