What if? Thanks Keith for this thought provoking post. I love the water reference. I've spent the last two days in water fly fishing the South Holston River near the TN, VA and NC borders. A time of restoration for me. Thanks again, Jeff

No Man is an Island

"Whoever isolates himself seeks his own desire; he breaks out against all sound judgment." Proverbs 18:1 (ESV)

When we isolate ourselves from our support system of family/friends, we are really being selfish. If we are to become al that God wants us to be, we must trust a friend with our heart and take guidance from them at times.

No man (or woman) is an island! We were created for communion with our Creator as well as other created beings. We need the wisdom of those who've gone… Continue

Good Leadership

"Good Leadership is a channel of water controlled by God; He directs it to whatever ends He chooses." –Proverbs 21:1 (The Message)

Wow! Good Leadership is defined by the world in a “results-drven” or “money-driven” way most of the time. Even by some prominent Christians as “Influence” or “Power”. (which is partially true) This verse describes leadership that is “good” as God-Controlled Power/Influence, or “Power Submitted”. Not what we normally think of when looking at most leaders today… Continue

Funny TV Story

I just wanted to post this quick and funny story that REALLY did happen to my wife and I the other night!

Last Sunday we visited a church gathering where, in the course of a conversation, we were challenged by a lady to do something we had already been talking about lately…to stop watching Television for a week. The reason for this is to see just how much time we waste worshipping the tube! So we took this challenge seriously and didn’t turn the TV on for the entire week. Not just any week, but… Continue

Labels: "A Sticky Situation"

This post is a result of a friend's suggestion that we write a book together about our "church without a name". Thanks Rick, for your suggestion...who knows, maybe this will be the future introduction to our "book". :)

I was asked by someone the other day regarding the name of the church gathering I attended. I love it when I get asked about our church's name because it gives me the opportunity to share about my "fellowship of the heart" with others. I also hate it when asked this question, bec… Continue

Leadership: "P" is for People

The People factor of leadership is perhaps the most important and most complex of all the leadership factors. People are important to leadership, because without people nothing happens. People are complex. Even when attempting to lead a small group of people toward a common goal, you will have as many different opinions as you have group members on certain issues. So how is the leader to overcome the complexity of working with "people" who have differing views?

To understand any creation to the… Continue

Keith! So good to hear from you. I look forward to hearing all about what you are doing...at Northeast State and with ConnectionPoint. Do I have to wait until the next CCC meeting??? I am not very savvy with communicating here! The photo you added recently is just lovely. It makes me happily sigh! Happy day, Pam
